5) Known Issues
Linux only: After the installation the executable file <installation_directory>/pace_and_place is not configured as exectuble. Therefore it cannot be executed without setting it as executable (chmod u+x pace_and_place).
Linux only: If you are using a Garmin USB device, you may have to do some configuration work for your operating system before Pace & Place is able to directly support your device. The following instructions work for openSUSE 11.2 and may be different on your Linux system!
Deactivate the kernel module called garmin_gps. Edit your blacklist file, e.g. /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist or /etc/modprobe.d/50-blacklist.conf (depending on your system), and add a single line: blacklist garmin_gps
You have to grant rights for every user to access the USB ports. Create or edit the file /etc/udev/rules.d/51-garmin.rules and add the following line: SYSFS{idVendor}=="091e", SYSFS{idProduct}=="0003", MODE="0666"
Reboot your system.
We're very sorry, but we cannot provide automatic configuration scripts for every Linux distribution out there. At the moment we're unable to handle this effort, but if you have instructions for a certain Linux system, please open a new tracker item at SourceForge.net and we will publish your instructions. Thank you!
6) How to report a bug
At the moment there is no automated way to submit a bug. Please follow this short guideline instead:
Close the application, if possible.
Windows: Open the "Windows Explorer" and navigate to your personal folder. Inside this folder you´ll find the application folder.
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<your login>\.pace_and_place\
Windows Vista and 7: C:\Users\<your login>\.pace_and_place\
Linux: Open a console window and navigate to the application folder inside your home folder: ~/.pace_and_place/
Create an archive file of the folder "log" called "log.zip" or "log.tar.gz".
We strongly recommend that you log in first. If you don´t have a SourceForge account yet, please create one.
Add a new tracker item. Please select the correct application version (Group) und operating system (Category). Specify a meaningful summary and add a good description of the problem (Details).
Attach the archive containing the log files and press "Add Artifact".
Please be sure that we can reach you to ask additional questions. Add your email address to the bug description or use a working SourceForge account. Thank you!
